It’s the first of September 2013, and that can only mean one thing! The beginning of this year’s Vegan Month of Food, also known as Vegan MoFo. I cannot express how excited I am to be taking part this year. If you’re unfamiliar with the concept, you can find some more information here. The basic idea is to encourage bloggers to write about vegan food as often as possible for the entire month. Many participants choose to use some sort of theme to tie their posts together neatly, and because I’m a bit chaotic at the best of times I though this might be a good idea.
I haven’t taken part in this event before, so I chose a fairly easy theme. I’ll mostly be writing about planning our meals around the veg box we receive each month. I know this sounds mind-numbingly boring, but I’m determined to make it interesting. I get stupidly excited about fresh produce, I love looking through the box when it arrives, and I’ve astounded at how much more varied my diet has become since I don’t choose my own vegetables anymore.
Meal planning has also become far more interesting, I spend lots of time browsing through my cookbooks looking for recipes that will incorporate the necessary ingredients.
I obviously won’t be blogging about veg boxes for an entire month, I’ll try to add recipes, product reviews and a very special food haul (because I love haul posts) and Cookbook Sundays will (hopefully) go on as planned. I’m also hoping to incorporate at least some of the official Vegan MoFo topics. And after September, I’ll get back to blogging about all the other important things life has to offer. I know, I know, sometimes it’s hard to believe that there are things apart from food. I have difficulties coming to terms with that as well. But reading about nothing but my passion for beetroot will get boring sooner or later, I promise.
Are you participating in Vegan MoFo? I’m a newbie to it but I’m so excited to get started!
