Hi! It’s the second day of September, it’s the second day of meteorological Fall, and it’s the second day of Vegan MoFo 2018! That’s Vegan Month of Food, if you’ve come across this post by accident and aren’t sure what the hell I’m on about.
What’s Vegan MoFo!?
Before I get started with my ‘proper’ posting schedule on Monday (more on that at a moment), here’s a quick overview of what the whole thing is about. Vegan MoFo started in 2007, when the post-punk kitchen still existed (insert heartbroken emoji here). It’s basically a month every year, usually September or October, where lots of vegan bloggers, instagrammers, and other social media-ers dedicate their content to recipes, vegan food, and generally spreading the vegan love. Anyone can join in, and it’s tonnes of fun! There’s even a list of themes and prompts to help you come up with your posts each day.
What’s happening on Moving Scouse?
I’ve taken part in Vegan MoFo for the past five years (this is my sixth!), and you can read EVERY MoFo post I’ve ever written HERE. I take a slightly different approach every year, depending on what I’ve been doing and how busy I am. This year, I’m being quite ambitious – I’m going for a post on every week day. I’m not totally sure how this is going to work out, but I’ve mapped out all my posts and have taken quite a lot of photos, so it’s looking good, lads!
As we all know, I’m a baker rather than a cook, and I love treats, but I also love fitness and nutrition. Most of all, I love talking about food, about fashion and cosmetics, and about all things vegan lifestyle. With that in mind, I’ve thought up a category for each day of the week, which I’ll be trying to stick to:
On Mondays, we’ll be talking meal prep! Easy week-day dinners, build-your-own lunch salads that don’t leave your tummy rumbling at 2pm, and zero-waste snacks… I’ve got your back!
Tuesdays will become Toddler Tuesdays! Cooking with my baby is one of our favourite things to do together, so we’ll be sharing some of our favourite simple recipes that are 100% child-friendly.
Every Wednesday, I’m bringing you a new sweet recipe. Make it to get through your Hump Day slump, or save it for the weekend… or both!
Thursday is dedicated to Secondhand Staples. This year, I’ve been challenging myself to buy as few items of clothing new as I can, instead relying on eBay and charity shops for pre-loved finds. I want to keep the momentum going through Vegan MoFo, as it’s an environmental issue close to my heart!
Finally, we’ll end the week with Friday finds. A highlight reel of the week, this will combine some of my favourite posts from other blogs, awesome instagram accounts, and food-related news and products I’ve found that week! These will be loosely tied to the official weekly themes to keep it interesting.
