In a recent post, I talked about how I’ve recently started to discover the difference high-quality make up brushes make in applying my face enhancements every day! It’s a bit of a struggle to find affordable, well-made vegan brushes (I’m not a huge fan of the e.l.f. brushes unfortunately) and I was actually looking for the Real Techniques mini brushes when I stumbled across Barry M‘s much more affordable alternative. The brand recently released a new all-vegan brush line and I was looking for small brushes that could fit into the make up bag I take to the gym, so I decided to give these a go!
The set consists of a powder brush, a concealer brush, a smaller eye brush and an eyebrow/lash brush-comb combination thingy. It’s safe to say that I don’t use the last one at all, and I think this could have been replaced with a more useful tool, such as a foundation brush or a larger eye brush.
However, the three brushes that I do use are brilliant. Although there isn’t an actual foundation brush, I have found that the big powder brush blends foundation well and leaves a soft, smooth finish. I tend to dab a bit of foundation on my nose, cheekbones, chin and forehead and then blend outwards – it works perfectly! The concealer brush usually get used as a second eyeshadow brush, and together with the smaller eye brush applies product neatly and evenly, with minimum fall-out.
For £9.99 at Superdrug, I really can’t fault this set. It’s exactly what I needed for on-the-go application, and I highly recommend it for everyone’s travel and gym bags!
