Bringing Vegan Into Vogue

Vegan Life Magazine

I can’t believe how quickly November has come around. I never really get into Halloween (I hope this changes when we have children, otherwise they’ll be in for a disappointment…), but I always get incredibly excited about Christmas. I’m so excited that we’ve got the 31st of October out of the way and I now have a full two months to get into the wintery spirit, decorate the flat and plan the perfect Christmas feast! Jake and I are hosting for the first time ever this year, so I’m trying to make sure everything is extra-perfect. I have an excuse to be starting this early, too – I have two MA deadlines before Christmas, as well as several work trips, so planning ahead is the only way to do it.

The most recent issue of Vegan Life  has been incredibly helpful with this. Aside from their regular features around the vegan community, animal rights and product reviews, they included a whole vegan Christmas guide! Of course, this included a tonne of recipes for any taste, including raw recipes, hearty main dishes, sweet puddings and some funky, less traditional finger foods… which I’ll definitely be making when boxing day comes around and we all need a bit of a break from heavy meals.

The feature also includes some non-recipe information, which I’m finding really useful since I’ve never really done this whole hosting thing before. It explains how to easily make a vegan meal that both vegans and non-vegans will enjoy and talks a little bit about hosting and presentation.

Vegan Life‘s Christmas feature has gotten me rather excited for Christmas, and I feel a little more prepared now, although I’m still nervous about my first ‘big’ family event (even though only my Mum and brother are coming, it feels like a big deal!). I can’t wait to see what the next issue will bring!
