Remember my last post about Fairypants? Well, they’re expanding their range to include loose, mineral-based eyeshadows (completely vegan, of course!) and were very kind to send me a sample pot! I was smitten the moment I opened my parcel, the company always take so much care with their packaging! Out tumbled my eyeshadow sample in Olivia, a sweet and lots of glittery heart-shaped confetti. Things like that always make my day.All the shades in the range are named after one of Shakespeare’s female characters, which was fitting since I just handed in an essay about feminism and Hamlet. But let’s not get into that. Olivia is a pale, shimmery green in the pot that easily builds into a deeper colour when applied. The packaging hasn’t been finalised yet, but I trust it will be impeccably designed, like all of Fairypants‘ products are. For now, all I can comment on is the jar, which is faff-free, easy to handle and a nice portable size. If you’re into carrying your make-up around with you, that is, which I’m not but seems to be something lots of people do.
The product itself is one I can’t fault. It applies easily with a brush and stays on all day (up to 12 hours for me!) when used with a basic primer. I used my ELF Mineral Eyeshadow Primer, which has really been growing on me. While I expected quite a bit of fallout with a loose eyeshadow, I actually found that dabbing the product onto my lid with the brush rather than sweeping it resulted in almost none! Either way, any fallout is easily removed with a quick once-over using a powder brush. The colour is very light at first, but I’ve found that it builds up to a deeper shade very quickly, so the product can really be used in a way to suit anyone, which I find is always a plus.
Here you can see it applied on my lids. How bad is my skin!? I didn’t want to edit much because I wanted the colour to be realistic, so do ignore those imperfections…
My only negative point would be that I find green eyeshadow doesn’t really suit me, so that isn’t really a criticism at all. When these shadows are released, I’ll definitely be purchasing some of the other colours, especially the smokey-grey Desdemona shade!
Have you used any loose eyeshadows lately?
Once these products are released, they will be available on the Fairypants website.
This product was supplied to me by Fairypants for review purposes. All reviews are 100% honest and I would never falsify my opinion to please a company. If I don’t like a product, you’ll be sure to know.
