Who’s been on the hunt for a vegan, all-natural deodorant that actually works for years on end? I know I have! I’ve tried a lot of different vegan deodorants over the past few years, but none of them ever met my standards. Does anyone else remember the craze for crystal deodorants? I don’t know what we were thinking, we may as well have not bothered at all..! Fortunately, the world has moved on since, and we now have a more effective option on the block: a product range from the Natural Deodorant Co.
A few months ago, I stumbled across the Natural Deodorant Co. and, reading the rave reviews their customers had left them, decided to order a few samples. I’m really pleased that I did, because I think I’ve found the holy grail of vegan deodorants. After being completely sold on the samples, I ordered full-size jars for both Jake and me, Nearly two months after our first purchase we’re still 100% happy. I can’t get over my love for this deodorant, so I want to share a few of my favourite things about the product with you today!
All-vegan, clean and cruelty-free ingredients
The Natural Deodorant Co. products consist of completely natural ingredients. They’re all vegan and completely cruelty-free. Based on coconut oil, shea butter and bicarb, these deodorants keep you smelling clean and fresh while also moisturising your armpits!
It actually works
No, for real. I know people say this about all-natural deodorants all the time and then you end up having to re-apply five times a day. But I apply this once, in the morning after a shower, and by the time I hit the sheets at night I’m still fresh as a daisy. I’ve also worn it during high-intensity workouts, and while it definitely doesn’t keep you from sweating, it fulfils its purpose and keeps you smelling clean.
Options, options, options
Unlike so many other manufacturers, the Natural Deodorant Co. reject a one-
size smell-fits-all approach. Instead, they’ve provided a range of options to suit every skin type and smell preference. Their deodorants come in three different strengths: gentle, clean, and active. Bicarb can be tough on the skin, so the gentle range contains none, instead making use of magnesium oxide and bentonite clay for smell-combating power. This makes them suitable for even the most delicate of skin types. The clean range, which we’ve been using and loving, does contain some bicarb, and the active deodorants are the strongest option for those really sweaty days. The gentle, clean, and active deodorants are available in a range of scents each – my favourite is the vanilla & manuka. Jake favours the men’s version – although I have to say the scent would suit anyone who prefers a spicy fragrance, regardless of gender!
The Natural Deodorant Co.’s products come in glass jars, making them ultra-recycleable. While the lids are currently plastic, the company recently announced that they have started the transition to metal lids, making their packaging completely plastic-free.
At £11 per jar, these deodorants aren’t the cheapest of options, and I’ll admit that this put me off for a while. However, I’ve had my full-size jar for over a month now, and still have more than half of the contents left. Considering the superior quality of both the product and the packaging, I think this is quite reasonable. I’ll update this post when I know exactly how long the jar lasts, with a more detailed breakdown of costs!
