Lovely Things in December 2013

It’s the last post of this type of the year! That was quick. My favourite thing this month was without a doubt spending Christmas in York with my soon-to-be in-laws. We had such a lovely time, it was really relaxed and christmas dinner was delicious! I’ll be featuring some of my christmas presents in later posts, so keep an eye out for that. I didm’t manage to capture too many pictures of the holidays, so I’m afraid you won’t be seeing much about it here, but I do have some other things that I’ve loved doing this month.Christmassy Day Out in London

I spent a weekend in London & Surrey with my very best friends, Jo and Louise. Jo and I had an amazing time (window)shopping and went a bit nuts in Wholefoods, then joined Louise for a christmassy coffee before I headed back up north. How cute is the postbox in the Moomin shop?

Christmas Treats

Naturata Special Ganze Mandel

We were sent an abundance of these by various members of my family, but our all-time favourite was this chocolate bar. It’s delicious vegan ‘milk’ chocolate with almonds. Yum.

Christmas Novels

With all these academic reading I’ve been doing, I love to wind down with a light-hearted novel. Currently I’m reading Rowling’s The Casual Vacancy, which is neither christmas-themed nor light-hearted, but previously to that I loaded my kindle with Jenny Colgan’s Christmas at Rosie Hopkins’ Sweetshop and Alexandra Brown’s Christmas at Carrington’s. Colgan is one of my all-time favourite authors and I love every single one of her books.

What have you been doing this past month?

  1. I’m back home again, so I’m catching up on everything that I need to after being away for over two weeks! Glad you’ve been enjoying your downtime – can’t wait to hear what you think about Casual Vacancy!

    1. There’s always so much to do when you’ve been away, it’s crazy! I finished the book last night, that was the mother of all endings. Loved that it wasn’t a ‘full stop’ if you know what I mean. You can imagine the characters’ stories going on.
